A’ja Wilson aiming for her third MVP award and states her thoughts
A’ja Wilson is already a two-time WNBA MVP winner. Looking at her performance this season it seems she could well on her way be to winning her third. She has enough fuel to motivate her as well, as she didn’t win the award last year, with the award going to Breanna Stewart. Many fans even felt that Wilson was snubbed off her third MVP.
In the show First Take, Wilson talked about her motivations to win the award. Wilson stated that she had received a fourth-place vote for last year’s MVP race which she felt she didn’t deserve. She even mentioned working on herself to get better and win the award back for the third time.
I don’t think Stewie getting MVP was really the motivation for me. Obviously, between her...they all deserved it, so I get it 100%. I think the most motivation for me, and everyone probably knows the story, is the fourth-place vote. That was all the motivation that I needed. In my eyes, maybe the top two, I get it. But to see I got a fourth-place vote, was kinda like ‘ok, obviously I have more work that needs to be done.A’ja Wilson via First Take
Wilson has a great offensive game which is enough to get her in the MVP race. Wilson is also one of the best defenders in the league and with a combination of her offence and defense she is certainly a favorite to grab hold of the award again.
