All Rune Changes

Runes are being changed but there are also many additions and removals. Let’s first start with the removed Runes.

Removed Runes

Riot is removing the following Runes from League of Legends.

  • Future’s Market
  • Ingenious Hunter
  • Legend: Tenacity
  • Lethal Tempo
  • Minion Dematerializer
  • Overheal
  • Predator

Many of the removals are happening because they are very niche choices (Predator, Minion Dematerializer, etc). However, Lethal Tempo is a different scenario. Riot has decided to remove Lethal Tempo because they believe the Rune disrupts the item system and circumvents the need for Attack Speed Items. Thus, from the next path, champions that need Attack Speed, will be getting it from items.

Lastly, some on this list are being directly replaced or reworked under a new name. Riot is also making some big changes to existing Runes to fill in the gaps of the ones that are being removed. Overall, this will cause a shift in terms of Rune choices going forward.

New Runes

On to a more positive note, here are the new runes that we are getting in Patch 14.10.

Absorb Life

First, we have Absorb Life, a rune that will replace Overheal and be slotted into the Precision tree. This Rune will trigger when you kill a target and do some healing in the process. However, it’s value is quite low early on and will be better later into the game. It’s a nice laning and split-pushing Rune that will serve as a decent option, particularly for Junglers.

  • Killing a Target heals you for 2 – 17 (based on level) Health.

Cash Back

Next up is Cash Back, Riot’s replacement for Future’s Market. This Rune will be placed in the selection for the First Slot instead of the Second as Triple Tonic is going to take Future’s Market’s spot.

Unlike the extra debt that Future’s Market will give, Cash Back will give you a small refund essentially. So, making major purchases gets you 6% Gold back, which means it has value for all roles. A very interesting addition alongside Hextech Flashtraption and Magical Footwear.

  • Get 6% Gold back when you purchase Legendary items.

Jack of All Trades

Moving on to Jack of All Trades, a new Rune that will be added with the void of Minion Dematerializer. However, this Rune will be placed for the selection of Slot 3 and not Slot 2. Instead, Time Warp Tonic is being moved in the selection pool for Slot 2.

Jack of All Trades will add a completely different option from Cosmic Insight and Approach Velocity. This Rune will give mostly Mid Laners and ADCs a better Inspiration 3rd Slot option. Ability Haste and Adaptive Force is great and this allows diverse builds to shine with Jack of All Trades. Pretty fun.

  • For each different stat gained from items, get one Jack stack. Each stack grants you 1 Ability Haste.
  • Gain Bonus Adaptive Force at 5 and 10 stacks.

Legend: Haste

Legend: Tenacity is removed so Legend: Haste takes its place. In contrast to the Tenacity gained, this one gives Ability Haste. Sad for Bruisers but happy days for ADCs.

  • Gains 1.5 Ability Haste for every Legend Stack (max 10 stacks).
  • Maximum 15 Ability Haste from the Rune.
