BOISE, Idaho - A deputy cited for misdemeanor battery at a local night club is no longer employed with the Ada County Sheriff's Office.

Officials made the announcement Wednesday afternoon.

Andrea Dearden, Ada County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman, said Ron Love submitted a resignation, which was later accepted.

Boise Police say they were called to a nightclub on the 400 block of S. 9th Street Jan. 20. When police arrived, they found a woman who said she had been punched in the face following a dispute with Love.

Officers were told Love had been escorted out of the nightclub, and they found him walking nearby. The victim told police she wanted to press charges against Love. Police cited him for misdemeanor battery.

Love has been with the Ada County Sheriff's Office since May 1989.

The former deputy was also cited on Fourth of July weekend in 2010, when investigators charged him with drinking alcohol while carrying a concealed weapon.

At the time, investigators said Love was riding a mechanical bull in a Boise bar when employees noticed he was carrying firearms.
