With a large repertoire of ball skills, LeBron James is one of the most complete players the NBA has seen. As a result, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar has been frequently mentioned in debates over the greatest basketball players. Recently though, former NBA champion Jeff Teague has told his personal story of how formidable James was in the playoffs.
Speaking on the Club 520 Podcast, he stated that LeBron James was the main obstacle against him during the playoffs. Teague also recalled how he was always on the losing team during all four encounters with the Lakers player.
According to Jeff Teague, he couldn’t get the better of James in all their meetings against each other. Despite almost tasting victory in one such match-up, his old nemesis still caught up to him. This was during the third quarter of that game when they were down 8, that it dawned on Teague that all hope was lost. Especially given that his own team were the ones leading at first.
Listen man, I've never won a playoff game against him. I've been in four series with this man, I got swept four times... One time we was up 30, I swear to God... Game 3, I’m like, I finally beat this dude. He walking at halftime said, ‘We good, we good, everybody, keep their head up’… I said it’s over.Jeff Teague said
The former basketball veteran only won a single championship throughout his playing days, with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021. However, in stark contrast, James has won 4 championships in his much-storied career. The 20-time All-Star will look to replicate his past successes once again as he enters his 22nd league season.
LeBron James admired by former teammate for intense workout routine
With his incredible longevity over two decades gaining much attention, LeBron James has been hailed for his workout habits. The four-time NBA champion has spent his pro career across three separate franchises and playing alongside different teammates. While his experiences may have been varied, his training routine has largely stayed the same.
This routine has also been witnessed firsthand by his former teammates, particularly former Miami Heat player Udonis Haslem.
When he talks about how to last and how to stick around in this league, we both had a front row seat to LeBron. If practice started by 10 o'clock, Bron already got to that motherf***** by 7:30... He done be in that weight room already, he done got his shots up...Udonis Haslem said
As stated by Haslem, the training habits followed by the Lakers player over the years are key to his longstanding career. It’s worth noting that all of the players from his draft class have since retired. Nonetheless, ‘King James’ continues to perform at the top level even today.
