BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) -- The Boise Elks Lodge #310 packed up Christmas baskets Saturday morning for Treasure Valley families in need.

About 75 volunteers with the Elks Lodge and other community members made 16 care packages that will last each family about one month. Six of the families include members who are veterans. The Christmas baskets were then delivered to the families' homes.

The families will find everything from milk, pasta and fruit to turkey, ham and eggs. The Elks Lodge also includes other items like turkey-roasting pans to ensure every family can enjoy the food. The families were also given everyday necessities like toilet paper and laundry detergent.

The families are carefully selected for this program. The Elks Lodge works with the El-Ada Inc. Community Action Partnership, the Boise School District, and the Idaho Veterans Home to find families that are not receiving help from other charitable organizations.

The Boise Elks Lodge has given out Christmas baskets for over 40 years.
