Kamaru Usman, never intended to battle his way into the Octagon. In contrast to WWE’s King of the Ring, his life’s ambition was Olympic wrestling glory, or glory in the ring. His talent and dedication helped him achieve All-American honours, dominate collegiate wrestling, and go 44-1 in professional wrestling. Usman switched to mixed martial arts, building on his wrestling foundations with the assistance of UFC Hall of Famer Rashad Evans, after injuries ended his aspirations of competing in the 2012 Games.

After Kamaru Usman defeated Colby Covington twice earlier this month at UFC 268, UFC President Dana White dubbed him “the greatest welterweight ever.” With his victory in New York, he increased his professional MMA record to 20-1 and came one fight short of matching Anderson Silva’s record for the longest winning streak in UFC history. Usman has a remarkable 15-fight winning streak in the UFC, which includes victory over Covington twice, Jorge Masvidal once, Burns once, Leon Edwards once, Tyron Woodley once, Rafael dos Anjos once, Demian Maia once, and Sean Strickland once.

At UFC 278 Kamaru Usman will defend his welterweight title against former foe Leon Edwards

At UFC 278 at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City on August 20, Kamaru Usman would defend his welterweight title against Leon Edwards in a rematch. Usman prevailed in their first encounter, which took place at UFC on Fox in 2015 between dos Anjos and Cowboy 2.

During the UFC 278 Press Conference, Usman discussed his decision to move up to light heavyweight and the reasons for his decision. He stated, “”I’m still thinking about going to get that light heavyweight title, too, I just think I can beat some of those guys. Some! Before you all kill me, I said some. There are some killers in that division and I definitely respect that, but I think those guys who were at the top, there was a couple of guys out there that I would probably take out.”

The former champion of the division and current title contender Jan Blachowicz responds to Kamaru Usman’s continued push to go up to light heavyweight. Usman, or “Nigerian Nightmare,” is gearing up to defend his welterweight title against longtime rival Leon Edwards at UFC 278 in August for the sixth consecutive time.

He took to social media where he stated. “So, you say people call you “The Nigerian Nightmare” … a monster. Good. I hunt monsters. Makes no difference how scary they are. Here is the said post:-
