Stephanie Vaquer has built a reputation as one of the best female wrestlers in the world. After her performance at Forbidden Door, she received offers from both AEW and WWE. Wasting little to no time, she decided to join the Stamford-based company. Discussing her arrival in WWE, wrestling veteran Konnan shared a dark incident that happened to her in the past.
While talking with Eric Bischoff on the 83 Weeks podcast, Konnan opened up about Vaquer’s dark past while discussing her career. He stated that she was involved in an abusive relationship with her ex-boyfriend and AAA wrestler, El Cuatrero. The horrific details included him grabbing her throat so hard that it left marks.
Konnan further added that the incident was a big deal in Mexico, and El Cuatrero was arrested for femicide and domestic violence. Speaking about her wrestling career, Vaquer recently wrestled AEW wrestler Mercedes Moné for the NJPW STRONG Women’s Title and the AEW TBS Title at Forbidden Door. Although she showcased her in-ring skills to a wider audience, she failed to capture either title.
This probably happened last year, but Stephanie Vaquer and El Cuatrero got into a fight. He was messing around. He grabbed her by the throat and she had marks on her throat, and it was a real big deal. He actually went to jail and he's still in jail.Konnan via 83 Weeks podcast
However, her decision to move to WWE after that match shocked many people. After announcing her arrival at the Stamford-based company, she wrestled Isla Dawn and won her debut match at the WWE SuperShow in Mexico. Nonetheless, many fans are excited to see her compete against some of the biggest stars in the company.
Nic Nemeth felt it was the right decision for Stephanie Vaquer to join WWE
Many people doubted Stephanie Vaquer’s decision to leave AEW and join WWE. However, former WWE star Dolph Ziggler, aka Nic Nemeth, felt that it was the right call. The 31-year-old star has often said that it was her dream to work for the Stamford-based company.
While speaking on the Busted Open Radio podcast, Nemeth stated that nothing was wrong with her wanting to achieve her dream. The former world champion said he would have done the same thing if he were in her place. He praised her performance against Mone in their title match at Forbidden Door.
Here's what I would do. I love wrestling, it's my dream to get to WWE. I have an opportunity in AEW, I am going to knock it out of the park. Now, more of an audience will know who I am.Dolph Ziggler on Stephanie Vaquer joining WWE via Busted Open Radio
