BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — The Spirit of Boise Balloon Classic is almost here.
The annual event has been creating friendships and memories for decades.
"I see parents come out with little children who've come up to me to say I was little when my parents brought me here, so it's something that has grown with the community, but it's also grown in spirit itself," said Laurie Spencer.
Scott and Laurie Spencer created the annual event. While Scott is no longer with us, his wife carries on the tradition.
"It was one of the things that he was most proud of in his life, the last day of the last event that he was able to be here with us, I stood on the stage with him and we looked out at the balloons and at the crowds and I put my arms around him and I said this is what you did. And it was... it was very touching and very emotional and I couldn't have been prouder to have stood beside him."
