She says for the past six months, she has been trying to get Cloverdale Funeral Home which owns Hillcrest Cemetery to straighten out the mess. But she says all they're doing is offering to let her buy a new plot for $2,726. Harshman said, "They wrote up a proposal and want to charge me what they say is half price, which is a fortune in my opinion."
Harshman says she is afraid her husband, a World War II vet, is close to passing soon and it's all too overwhelming. She said, "My husband is on hospice. When he goes, I'll lose my home because I can't afford to keep it. I'm losing my burial plot and that's not OK."
KBOI 2News contacted Cloverdale Funeral Home and the manager there says they have been trying to make things right with Harshman.
The manager says they will give Harshman another plot with her headstone as soon as a new contract is written up and she deeds over her old plot.
They say the person responsible for selling the plot no longer works for the company.
"They're going to come and go and I am going to still be there. But I want to be where I want to be, how I want it and without this falling to my children," Harshman said.
UPDATE: Harshman says Cloverdale Funeral Home contacted her after KBOI 2News interviewed her and told her they would give her a new plot with her headstone at no charge.
