As UFC Vegas 53 is around the corner, the fighter makes their final cut and gets ready to step on the scale for weight-in. however, the main event of the UFC Vegas 53, didn’t come without hiccups.
The main event is between Font and Marlon Vera at the bantamweight. Font and Vera are ranked No. 5 and No. 8 in the bantamweight division, respectively. Both the fighters stepped on the scale on Friday as the event approaches close.
Marlon Vera was the first fighter to hit the scale and he successfully made weight at 136 pounds with a one-pound allowance for a non-title bout. Rob Font, however, missed weight by two-and-a-half pounds, weighing in at 138.5. Font had fought 13 fights in the UFC and this was the first time Font missed weight in his UFC career.
Talking about the incident with ESPN, Rob Font said: “Ah the last two just wasn’t coming off you know, we have cut the weight before um, probably come in lighter the next time but ah and it just wasn’t coming off uh and we ran out of time and then you know just wasn’t safe anymore.”

What can we expect from the bantamweight contest between Rob Font and Marlon Vera?
The event is scheduled for 30 April 2022 as UFC heads back to Apex Center in Las Vegas, Nevada for the latest UFC Fight Night: Font vs. Vera event. The event has interesting Fight cards as Font fights Marlon Vera for the main fight. The co-main event will see former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski Taking on Jake Collier. Gerald Meerschaert will also return to action, hoping to register his fourth consecutive finish when he fights Krzysztof Jotko.
The fight was accepted by Marlon Vera at catchweight and will proceed as planned. Rob Font will be fined 20% of his Fight purse for not making the weight.
